FY 2018 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant
In fiscal year 2018, the SMART Office continues support for implementation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, through posting of the SMART Office FY 2018 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program solicitation. This funding assists jurisdictions with developing and/or enhancing programs in offsetting the costs of SORNA implementation and ongoing SORNA implementation assurance. Jurisdictions may receive up to $400,000 to further efforts at substantial implementation.

SMART FY 18 Fellowship: Strengthening Sexual Violence Victim Services Program
In fiscal year 2018, the SMART Office will fund one fellowship position to support SMART in its mission to assist states, the District of Columbia, territories and tribal jurisdictions with developing and/or enhancing programs designed to implement the requirements of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, and to promote innovation and best practices in the field of sex offender registering and monitoring.

SMART FY 18 Sexual Violence Prevention Initiative
In fiscal year 2018, the SMART Office will fund the Sexual Violence Prevention Initiative (SVPI), a project designed to utilize research and practice to prevent sexual violence and improve sex offender monitoring. SVPI will build upon and expand the Sex Offender Management Assessment and Planning Initiative, developing and updating literature review chapters and research briefs, taking inventory of sex offender-related policies and practices and translating the project's findings to practitioners in the field.
